I grew up to NES and all the old school stuff but I love the Switch OLED I mean realistically it’s 3 in 1. TV/ Portable and you can pop controllers out and lean that bad boy back like a tablet and hold the controllers yourself and play. I chose Zelda edition because I remember the Gold Cartridge days lol and I bought the physical copy of Tears of the Kingdom and so far I’m quite impressed, I own PCs I build myself and Gaming Laptops and PS5 and now I have this treasure to play with. It came in IMMACULATENT CONDITION from the box to everything included. I will be playing this console when I really want to chill and the games available are more than I thought like in terms of quantity they have Doom/ Doom Eternal and Wolfenstien etc to Metroid Prime Remastered etc etc so don’t even think it’s worth it trust me. I’ve played it all ways so far and on TV it looks good seriously I know I’m used to 4K with my RTX 3080 Ti and other GPUs but Nintendo is great for anyone last one I owned was the GameCube but I like how the cartridges are literally the size of a memory card just pop in and play! Enjoying Zelda Tears of the Kingdom right now. Glad I grabbed one up when I did. I am going to purchase a PRO controller though not that there is anything wrong with the Joycon sticks but my hands are big so but no big deal.

After ordering this, before it was delivered, I was reading some reviews and I had become worried. I was worried because some people said they received China edition OR they were unsealed boxes, implying they were refurbished or clones. My order was fulfilled by, sold by and shipped through Amazon LLC. The product that arrived was the USA edition with the USA power adapter. And the serial number bar code in the cardboard “window” was still there. That is expected and that was good to see.I also did a little research regarding how Nintendo ships their OLED Switches. They do NOT ship with the box shrink wrapped. So if you are concerned about getting a non-shrink wrapped packaging, don’t worry because that is normal. Also, the corners of the box had a little indentation and even very slight tear right at the corners, but that is also normal. That is how mine came (see my photo of packaging box) and I’ve viewed alot of other Switch OLED unboxing and they all had similar appearance. So don’t fret. However, if I did receive a China edition packaged with a US power adapter converted, I would’ve definitely sent it back because that’s not what I ordered and who knows where it came from or if it’s a Chinese clone, etc.Anyways, back to the “review”. I’m a 53 yr old oldtime gamer. I was raised on Atari 2600, Intellevision, Super Nintendo, Plastation 1-3, N64, XBOX 1st gen through Xbox One-S. Then I stopped playing video games because I was getting neck aches from looking up at a TV all the time when I’m not working.Today I’m getting back into gaming! So happy and I can sit in my nice comfortable leather chair and play my games again! Next I may get a steamdeck, but I think this Switch will be my go to for quite some time :)Thanks,Benny

Now that I’ve got my hands on it, I regret not purchasing the oled model when it launched. I’m upgrading from the OG switch launch model, and the improvement in the screen and battery life is significant. On paper, the screen is only slightly larger, but in person, it’s significant. With the oled, the colors really pop, not nearly as washed out looking as the original switch, and it gets much brighter too. It’s just gorgeous. The current hardware is also much more energy efficient. The battery life vs the launch model is roughly doubled, and I had just put a new battery in mine 6 months ago. The kickstand is actually useful, where the OG felt like it would break off just opening it. If I have to have a complaint, it’s that the air intake vents have been moved to the bottom edge and little rubber feet have been added, I guess to prevent it from sliding on a surface. I often like to tuck my pinky fingers under the bottom when playing handheld, and these changes make it less comfortable to hold this way. It’s a minor thing that I’ll get used to, and is hardly even worth mentioning when you consider the other upgrades. The transfer process was a real headache, you have to have both consoles side by side to transfer, and then download a special app to transfer your animal crossing island. There are also some games where saves will not transfer under any circumstances. Then your sd card has to be erased and all games redownloaded, 300gb with in my case. This is not the fault of the switch console, but it is Nintendo and their archaic online system and DRM. If they had their act together the process would be as simple as signing in on the new switch, moving over the sd card with all games, and just syncing the cloud saves.Update: After more use, I found 2 other areas where this oled model falls short. I’ve found the game card slot cover is impossible to open without some sort of thin tool to stick in there and pop it open. There is no way to grip it or get a fingernail under it. If you’re mainly digital, like me, then it’s not a concern, but if you only buy physical versions of games this will likely irritate you. Also the wifi still sucks. The original switch was notorious for its poor wifi connectivity, and I can confirm it has not been improved in the oled model. If anything, it seems worse. The new one drops the signal and fails to connect in locations where the old one worked.

I just opened my Switch and realized there was no instruction/info booklet included. There was a little piece of paper in Kanji (Japanese) inside the box and even the outside of the box is in Kanji. What’s with that??? The picture of the OLED on Amazon (the one I ordered) shows English writing on the outside of the box so I assume everyone else gets an English instruction manual? Otherwise, everything seems to be there and it is very easy to use and the perfect size screen. My last gaming purchase was a WiiU, if that tells you anything, and, yet, this was easy for even me to get started on (using YouTube vids) but I just hope and pray there isn’t anything different about this Switch than the English version. Sigh.

If you’re a fan of Zelda, I can’t recommend this enough. I previously didn’t have my own Switch, so when I wanted to play Nintendo games, I always used the one that my family shared. I’d been considering getting my own for a while, and when I saw this version, I couldn’t say no.Obviously the screen is awesome, that’s the whole point of the OLED Switch. Also LOVE the kickstand; a major improvement over the original model. Then you add on the skin (which obviously doesn’t include the Amiibo, I just couldn’t help putting it in the picture) for only $10 extra, what an absolutely perfect purchase. One caveat that I have is that, if you already have a Switch OLED, this doesn’t make sense to buy. Maybe if you’ve got a bunch of money lying around (clearly more than I’ve got) and you just HAVE to get the Zelda skin, then go for it. But there’s nothing specifically unique or special about this console other than that. For me, though, it just made to much sense to buy… so I did. And I’m super happy I made that decision.

In a hurry, thought this came with the legend of Zelda because it cost as much as it would to purchase with the game. Hopefully it will hold it’s value :)Great game console, the controller it comes with lasts for hours, in fact I’ve never had it die on me while playing for endless hours. If it charges wirelessly, then I missed that in the manual somewhere which is very possible.

I had my original switch connected to my computer Monitor and had no issues with it. As soon as I got this upgraded model I hooked it up to my monitor and was shocked to see that the image quality now looks like a PS2 game. It’s so pixelated and grainy that I almost can’t play on the big screen. I’ve messed with my video settings on both the console and the monitor but there doesn’t seem to be a fix in that regard. I do love the console, I just wish it didn’t look like a** on screen.

I was skeptical at first, but i dont regret buying the switch. Being able to play childhood games from the other Nintendo systems feels so good. To help take care of it, i bought a screen protector, a case and travel/storage bag for it. Thanks to my neighbor for convincing me to get it.
