I wanted an advanced camera with a good hand-feel (deep, so you can have full confidence in one-hand holding of the camera at any angle). Previously had the Canon T100/E4000D DSLR, which I liked, but I wanted more resolution and image quality.The R50 came out earlier this year. It is mirrorless, so not a DSLR and thus no mirror flap, but also no optical VF (but excellent EVF). However, it has a nice simulated OVF mode (also found on some Olympus cameras). One thing to know about the OVF sim — just like with real OVF, there is no instant review in the VF. And if you’re in monochrome mode, the OVF will still be in color so you can forget you’re in monochrome mode unless you look for a symbol in the VF.Has a readable 2-axis electronic level (in EVF and LCD). Mechanical shutter (electronic first curtain) or silent electronic shutter. Good manual-focus features. Lots of smart features added since the T100 came out. And it’s lighter than the T100 — only 375g body + kit ens 130g = 505gThe kit lens is very good — RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. The sensor is sharp and so is this lens. But I am waiting for Canon to release an RF-S pancake prime. On the T100 I used their EF-S 24mm which was very good. I would expect Canon to release an RF-S 22mm prime, as they have (or had) a EF-M 22mm prime for their M50 cameras.Anyway, hard to go wrong with this camera if you are going from a Canon APS-C DSLR to mirrorless. Recommended!

Very surprised and impressed by the quality this little guy can put out. It does seem to shine most during high lighting situations, and can struggle a bit in low-light. In (barely) low light situations, the camera practically begs for you to use the flash, which in my opinion, can completely change the composition of a photo in a way you may not want.It does seem to struggle while using the Canon App, and hopefully they will fix that soon. Also noticed it’s currently not a compatible model for Canon’s webcam function app on a computer, but again – hopefully that will be resolved eventually.If you are looking for a simple use, shoot and go camera – this is it! Awesome beginner camera for someone like me.

I received the Canon EOS R50 Camera kit, with the RF-S18-55mm lens, ontime and with all the contents listed. I’m new to SLR cameras, so I’m just learning how to use the camera features but I’m pleased with the quality It’s photos and videos. I realize now though that I should have opted for the RF-S18-150mm lens kit.I have only one disappointment, and it is the fact that the lens image stabilization function is tied to the camera’s in body stabilization (either both or none), according to the instruction manual (the lens does not have an on/off switch for image stabilization).

I bought the Canon R50 body only as the reviews for the kit lens were not great. I ordered a RF 50 mm lens to go with it and the combination is great for the kind of photography I want to do. It’s small and lightweight. Easy to carry around. Perfect for a beginner like me.

The sensor in this is not as large as a full frame camera, and that’s not a problem. This has diguc 10 and the same sensor/autofocus as the slightly more expensive r10.If you are looking for an intro to photography and used to a cell phone the is the camera for you.If you put your camera in auto and leave it there, this camera is for you.It’s lite, without feeling cheap.If you were looking at the m50, get this instead.

I am completely satisfied with the item. It does just what is described on the Amazon site. The quality and workmanship is excellent. It actually has more features that my Canon 80D. Additionally, all of my 80D lenses fit and work perfectly after purchasing a Canon EF-EOS R Mount Adapter.

Was looking for the small camera . I had the ZV-1 and wasn’t impressed . There was no EVF for pics and the screen is trash. The mark is same issues . Next came the R50 and it checked all the boxes for the perfect pocket camera. For me anyway.

Perfect for a beginner like me. Pair it with the RF nifty fifty and get ready for the most stunning shots. Crisp video, fast autofocus, and shooting on auto results in beautiful pictures. I’m really enjoying taking family photos chasing my toddler around and can’t wait to take this camera with me on vacation.My only negative thing is this camera does not work at all with the Canon app. Super frustrating
