Great tv, easy to get to apps

I replaced a 3 year old Samsung (2k $ tv) in hopes this would hold up like our other Bravia. No such luck. This thing is laggy moving through menus. Using over 4 times as much data as our Samsung/Sony televisions somehow and even with all eco settings off, if it’s paused 5 minutes, it shuts the tv off automatically. Will go through fantastic experience I’m sure of returning it.

I bought on prime day, with a free delivery unpack service. However, not only the delivery experience is really awful, but the product has two unbearable issue which I am not sure if this is only I had a bad one or all this model has the same problem.First let’s talk about the delivery experience:1, the delivery guy doesnt wear shoe cover to enter my home, cause lots of dirt on my floor.2, when they try to install the leg of the tv, they put the tv face down on the tv package which has tons of dirt on it so the screen was covered by dust and dirt after they flip it back. Also when they move the tv they hold it with hand and finger on the screen makes finger print on it and hard to remove.3, after they put it on the shelf, they main guy ask me to sign so they can leave, I said I have to check if there’s any flaw so I can return it right now to save any trouble, this is written on the explaination on the service page but the guy doesn’t know and keep sayingtheir job is only assemble.Lastly I can’t argue with them because the main guy doesn’t speak English at all and the one who speaks a little English can’t explain both sides. so I just signed it then I’ll Check it by myself.I couldn’t believe Amazon has such a bad delivering into home service, this usually cost 30$ but it’s prime day so it’s free this time, but I’ll never order this service for sure based on this experienceOk so after they left, I started to set up the tv with google account, I’m having another two Sony tvs in my old house so I know all the drill to avoid those ads. Here’s the problem, this tv is extremely laggy on the remote control, whenever I press directions, it always has to wait approximately 0.5-1 sec to response, this seems like the cpu or memory couldn’t handle the workload, but I’m at the setting up stage, it doesn’t make any sense since it’s a 2300$ new version Sony tv.Another thing is the brightness problem, I know it’s my first OLED tv, I know the blackness is great, but I never heard of the brightness should be a problem, since I can’t even watch clear unless I put it on vivid picture mode which it’s too sharp, any other modes are not bright at all even it’s on max brightness. So I’m trying to replace this to see if the one I got is a flaw one or all a80L are laggy and dark. It’s my first time writing a review during my 10+year prime, and I’ll update when I get the replacement

So my wife surprised me with this television for my office/man-cave, and I have to say she did an outstanding job! Whether I am watching the news or sports or playing a game on my playstation this thing looks and sounds amazing!I had a smaller, 32″ TV that just wasn’t cutting it. My eyesight sin’t what it used to be, and let’s face it gaming nowadays requires a nicer tv setup for the full experience. My wife went searching and found this TV, and since it was the same brand as my typical gaming station she went for it. The picture quality is perfect in my office, with clean graphics, a great refresh rate and text that stands out on screen where I need it, and the audio quality straight from the box has been fantastic, too! The screen looks beautiful in every lighting setup I’ve had it in, and has a wonderful dynamic range of darks to lights so that environment changes on screen look beautiful.Gaming isn’t the only thing that really shines on here. The smart aspects of the TV are super responsive and quick to load, and 4K content begins playing almost immediately, even over a wireless connection. The apps were easily setup with the Google support wizard and made it so that I only needed about 20 minutes to get several apps up and running and have the TV set and ready. This is a truly great television, and I look forward to testing its limits with the graphics and such on systems to come!
What I Think –
I’ve owned a Sony TV for years, and I found it to be of high quality and reliable. This TV is my first Sony OLED TV, and I’m very impressed wit its picture quality and performance so far. Here are some pros and cons:Pros: – Stylish and premium design. It really can accentuate any living space – Cognitive XR processor does a great job of upscaling low resolution content. I’m able to see more fine details and less or none of the unwanted artifacts with this TV compared to my older one. – Excellent and impressive SDR and HDR images with support for formats in HDR, HLD, and Dolby Vision. The colors and contrast, especially the pure black, are amazing. I love watching Planet Earth in 4K resolution with this TV. It really brings life-like pictures to the screen. Such a mesmerizing experience. – Better than expected sound. With Acoustic Surface Auto+ and Dolby Atmos, the sound is immersive and does feel like it comes directly out of the screen. – Three-way position stand is a thoughtful design to accommodate narrow or wide surfaces. Furthermore, I appreciate the fact that I can raise the TV up to clear the sound bar.Cons: – 4 HDMI inputs, but only 2 is HDMI 2.1 that can support 4K/120Hz, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) – No support for HDR10+Overall, I think this is a fantastic mid-range OLED TV that delivers amazing pictures. With Google TV OS, it’s very responsive and intuitive to navigate, and the layout can be customized to one’s preference. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone’s currently in the market.

Very excited to open the box only to find a cracked screen. Won’t buy another tv on lineNot worth the potential savings to put up with the hassle of a return

The very first television I ever purchased was a 21 inch SONY Trinitron in the late 70s. At the time there was no television made for the U.S.A. that could come close to its picture quality other than European sets where the higher resolution PAL standard made sets in America look really bad. Finally we managed to get high definition and then the standard for today, 4K. With resolution pretty much licked we now focus on other details like brightness, scan rates, and the all important sound. For a long time it looked like Sony was caught off guard by a growing list of manufactures who were putting together some very impressive sets with bigger and bigger panel with lower and lower prices. Granted, they still have stiff competition, which is great for the consumer and SONY has to up their game if the want to remain a big player in the television market. This years series is a very good start in the right direction. I got the smaller 55 inch model which is perfect in my game area as a multi use set for my games machines, PC/music Streamer, and occasional movie. I have a large 4k projection home theater set up primarily for movies. Its a huge screen but no projector can come close to an OLED panel like the one in this SONY. When its just myself I actually prefer it over my 120 inch projection for movies. The brightness on this SONY is the very first thing that took me by surprise. I already have another brands 55 inch OLED set in my bedroom for comparison and this Sony set is noticeably brighter. The main reason I wanted this set was the 120 refresh rate. My other OLED is only 30 and is not good for fast gaming and movies. SONY designed this to complement their Playstation 5 and take full advantage of its capabilities. Everything I have played has been butter smooth. Like all OLEDs the black levels are sometimes hard to believe. Sony also did a good job with in set speaker but I have it set up with a sound bar system with ATMOS sound that takes everything to another level. The remote is perfect for me. Its not one of those huge remotes that has so many buttons its confusing. It is simple and sstraightforward and easy enough that in no time you will be operating it on muscle memory alone. In case you have not figured it out yet, I love my new SONY! Its surreal how it seems that not that long ago I said the same about that old Sony 21 inch television and almost in the blink of the eye we have advanced so far so quick. I don’t know where we will be in 10 or 20 years but I am confident that Sony will be among the top innovators in electronics for many decades to come. In summary I must include one minor negative. The legs for the set could be studier. It takes only a minot jar to make the set wobble and while I doubt it would ever overturn I would feel better were the legs were reinforced. Again its a minor point especially since I will eventually be VESA mounting it. If you are looking for your next television and also intend to use it with a game machine I serious suggest to consider this set. If you have never experienced an OLED set in your home its time you should. I totally recommend this set.

I’m really impressed by the A80L Bravia XR television. The picture and sound is unlike any television I’ve had in the past. When people say that Sony delivers, they truly mean it.The television features a 4k OLED display combined with Sony’s top notch image processing and 120hz panel. The Acoustic Surface Audio has speakers placed behind the screen, and the built in subwoofers make it perfect for enjoying your television while you save for a robust sound system (which you’ll also be able to use the front panel speakers as a center channel for.)The VESA mount points are 300x300mm.You are able to configure the stand to sit at a standard position of 1184mm/46 5/8 inches.A narrow position of 847mm/33 3/8 inches, and a soundbar position of 1184 mm/46 5/8 inches.I chose to wall mount this TV, and while it’s light enough that I was able to do it myself, I would recommend having someone help you so that you aren’t risking damage to the panel. The tv supports up to 3096×2160 4K resolution for cinematic viewing at 60hz.Inputs 3 and 4 are able to support 3840×2160 UHD resolution at 120hz for gaming. The television will work with your apple airplay or homekit, but I have used to to great effect with my google home setup. Often, just holding the assistant button is enough to be able to issue a command even when the television is off.

I’ve been a pretty dedicated user of Samsung TVs over the years so this is my first experience with a Sony. This OLED is a step up from my fairly new, 2 year old QLED which has served me well and my review is largely based on this comparison. The good:1. Picture quality really is top notch. Really sharp visuals. I can see details that I didn’t see before especially in scenes with close up shots on actor’s faces. There are picture options for IMAX enhanced visuals for sources that support it like Apple TV+ that really showcase the level of quality the TV supports.OLED TV’s are really known for their superb contrast ratio and for good reason – there’s no washout in the black levels in even the darkest scenes.2. The sound quality from the hidden speakers are shockingly good. I’m not just talking about the max volume level, which pretty much any flat panel TV nowadays can do pretty well. The sound feels 3 dimensional and manages to output some pretty rich bass on top of that. A big plus for folks who don’t want to spend extra for a soundbar and woofer set or even for the minimalist folks like me.3. The design of the TV looks super premium with really thin bezels on the top and sides and a nice thin strip of aluminum on the bottom. The stands echoes this design with thin dark gray metal legs with a configurale wide or a narrow setup depending on your needs.I did have to do a quick google search to figure out how to put the legs together properly – there’s a YouTube video that walk you through it so no biggie.4. Lots of smart TV features provided by the Google TV OS. You’ve got access to almost all available streaming content through the natively published apps in the Google Play store as long as you have an active subscription. The Google TV interface is really nicely done with an intuitive home screen that shows personally relevant content and apps in one screen.I’m really enjoying the Live TV feature which uses content from various free streaming services but combines the content into a singular channel guide that you can browse easily. The mediocre:1. The remote is really lackluster for such a premium TV. As an example, my samsung remote was really thin and had solar panels built into the back so you never had to change batteries or charge it.By comparison, this Sony remote uses batteries and is pretty darn chunky. Sort of reminds me of the remotes from the early 2000’s.2. The touted “Game Menu” is really just a skin for the same picture options that’s available in the main settings menu besides the crosshair feature. I honestly thought there’d be more integration with the PS5 since it is Sony but there really isn’t much there.3. The picture brightness is a tad too dark for me with the picure mode set to Game Mode and since the brightness is not adjustable with VRR turned on, I’m pretty much stuck with it the way it is.4. I love that the TV allows you to connect any Bluetooth headsets without having to resort to other dongles and adapters but I’m experiencing interference on my AirPod Pro 2’s where the audio from the TV cuts out every few mins.I don’t have audio issues with any other device so I’m not sure it its specifically an issue with the AirPods or some other of defect. In all honesty, I wanted to rate this TV a 4.5 star but since that’s not an option, I’m going to round up and give it a 5.All in all a really solid choice if you’re in the market for a premium OLED.
